NURSERY, PRE-K 1, AND PRE-K 2 PROGRAMS
In operation since 1999, the nursery program is fully licensed by the State of Louisiana. The nursery cares for infants as young as 6 weeks old. A child must be one year of age by September 30th of the current year in order to enter the 1-year-old program. A child must be two years of age by September 30th of the current year in order to enter the 2-year-old program.
DAILY ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:
• Meals, playtime, naps, and time spent outdoors
• Story-telling and one-on-one engagement to develop language
skills and motor development
• Socialization is the main emphasis for the toddlers; we allow the
children to experience sharing as well as building relationships
with staff members
• Safe, secure play in both indoor and outdoor age-appropriate
play areas
PRE-K 3 PROGRAM
We pride ourselves on our Pre-K 3 program where emphasis is placed on learning by doing. A child must be three years of age by September 30th of the current year in order to enter the Pre-K 3 program. In a brightly colored classroom filled with manipulatives students are invited to discover and explore.
The program curriculum based on Montessori methods includes:
Practical Life: development of personal skills
Sensory: enlargement of sense perceptions
Language: phonics/pre-reading and writing skills
Math: counting and arithmetic
Cultural: introduction to physical science, geography, biology,
music, and history
PRE-K 4 PROGRAM AND KINDERGARTEN
The Pre-K 4 program is specially designed to prepare 4-year-old students for the kindergarten program. A child must be four years of age by September 30th of the current year in order to enter the Pre-K 4 program.
The kindergarten program nurtures and builds social and academic skills in students five to six years old. A child must be five years of age by September 30th of the current year in order to enter kindergarten. The curriculum for kindergarten provides learning in all areas of development (cognitive, emotional, physical, and social) and provides instruction at the child's level in literacy and mathematics. In kindergarten early reading instruction utilizes the memorization of sight words. Students are taught to
memorize sight words, so that they can recognize them immediately and read them without having to use decoding skills.
